So a fellow marathon runner (only difference between us is that he’s done the marathon 92 (!) times) has obviously some connections in the running world. I met him at a friends party:

And in between our “my-marathon-was-stories” I sort of mentioned that I wouldn’t mind doing another marathon. He says – you should do NYC. I say – Well yeah that would be awesome…but I hear it’s really hard to get a spot, maybe I’ll be able to get one next year. He gives me a smirk and says…maybe I can pull some strings. Call me on Monday.
And the next thing I know I have a spot at THIS years marathon in NYC! So in 11 weeks I’ll not only be doing my second marathon I’ll also be doing the biggest marathon. There’s just one catch…I have to get in shape again.
So off I go. Training today:
Warm up: 4 km
Intervals: 6×500 m
Slow: 5 km
Phew!
Yepp 2 (!!!) days to go. 2 tiny days to go before what might be my biggest challenge ever. 2 days to Marathon! I’ve been talking widely about it. In fact at the moment I can’t really think of anything else. Thoughts like “Why? Why am I doing this again?” but also “how incredible great it’s going to be when it is over”. Right now I just want to get on with it maybe even have it over with.
I was thinking of Tweeting my run but then it struck me that it will just be another hassle. “You don’t want to be carrying things around” someone said. But now I’m thinking it might be good to get me thinking of something else while running. It’s gonna be at least 5 hours. Hmm what do you think?
Anywho…2 days left to decide that.
